Most people, especially travelers from USA or Europe, associate Ecuador with warm weather, but if you want to be prepared, include a waterproof jacket, or even a raincoat, as sometimes it can be cold at nights. Be prepared also for an intense sun, as Galapagos is near the Equator line, so consider bringing sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses too.
Even though water dispensers are available in the cruise, it is important to take a small water Bottle every time you go trekking. When drinking water, we suggest you to do it at random and by small sips.
For those who are about to experience for the first time a trip on a boat, there are a few things you can do in order to adapt. First thing to do is to close your eyes and as soon as you arrive onboard, you will immediately feel the smooth waving on the floor. Then open your eyes again and do the same procedure until you can foretell the next move, and synchronize it with your legs and feet in order to keep your balance.
We encourage you to bring a camera, so you can take photos of the place and the species of Galapagos. A waterproof camera is well recommended for snorkeling or scuba diving, and we also recommend you to think about a 360º camera, to capture a more complete memento.
Bring your oldest and most comfortable sport shoes to trek on the Galapagos Island’s volcanic soil, and bring also some sandals to walk through the sand. If you are an elderly person or if you have had some surgery in your knees or legs, then it is appropriate to bring a walking stick along. About clothes, we recommend you to wear casual and comfortable clothing.
