In the morning, you will travel to Alausi, where you will visit the Devil’s Nose viewpoint (the train is not currently running). Continue south. The ruins of Ingapirca (closed on Monday and Tuesday) are Ecuador’s most important pre-Columbian Inca ruins and are located in the southern Andes at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. Ingapirca originally means “Inca stone wall”. Long before the Incas, the Kanari lived in this area and built their moon temple, which is still visible today. You will also take a short hike to the “cara del inca”, a rock formation in the shape of a face.
