Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival In Quito
After landing in Quito, you’ll be welcomed by a guide and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a free evening to relax and acclimate to the high-altitude capital of Ecuador. Quito, nestled in the Andes, offers breathtaking views and a cool climate year-round.
Day 2 : Quito Historic Tour & Middle Of The World
Embark on a walking tour of Quito’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visiting landmarks like San Francisco Plaza and the impressive La Compañía Church. Later, head to the “Middle of the World” monument, marking the equator, where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere.
Day 3 : Otavalo Market & Cuicocha
Today’s excursion takes you on the Panamericana Norte to Otavalo. In Otavalo, you will visit the colorful indigenous market at the “Plaza de Ponchos”, where you can buy souvenirs made by hand by the locals. Afterwards, you will drive to the crater lake Laguna Cuicocha, the “guinea pig lake”, where you can go on a hike. Return to Quito.
Day 4 : Cotopaxi Volcano & National Park
Journey to Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. Enjoy a scenic hike around Limpiopungo Lagoon, surrounded by stunning Andean landscapes. In the evening, relax in a traditional hacienda nestled in the foothills of the Andes.
Day 5 : Papallacta Hot Springs & Amazon Lodge Arrival
Soak in the thermal pools of Papallacta, a peaceful spa destination in the highlands, before traveling to the Amazon. Arrive at your lodge in the jungle, where you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink and an introduction to your Amazon adventure.
Day 6 : Amazon Rainforest Adventure
Today you will travel by canoe early in the morning to a salt lick, which serves as a lure for birds. Afterwards, you will visit the indigenous community of Santa Barbara. Here you will learn about the traditions and customs of the community, learn how to make the traditional drink “Chicha” and try your hand at blowpipe shooting and spear throwing. Afterwards you will continue with your canoe to go on a hike in the Jatun Sacha reserve. You will also visit the small jungle town of Misahualli where you will be served a typical lunch and can observe the capuchin monkeys on the beach.

Day 7 : Waterfalls Of Baños
Arrive in Baños, known for its scenic beauty and numerous waterfalls. Visit highlights like the Pailón del Diablo, one of Ecuador’s largest waterfalls, and enjoy hiking along ecological trails. Baños also offers adventure activities such as ziplining and canyoning (not included).
Day 8 : Chimborazo Volcano
Visit Chimborazo, Ecuador’s tallest peak, whose summit is the farthest point from the Earth’s center due to the planet’s equatorial bulge. The base of the volcano offers scenic hikes through Andean landscapes rich with unique flora and fauna, including the iconic vicuña. As you explore, take in the majestic views of snow-capped Chimborazo. The surrounding páramo is a haven for birdwatchers, and the Chuquiragua flower, also known as the “flower of the Andes,” blooms here.
Day 9 : Devil’s Nose & Ingapirca
In the morning, you will travel to Alausi, where you will visit the Devil’s Nose viewpoint (the train is not currently running). Continue south. The ruins of Ingapirca (closed on Monday and Tuesday) are Ecuador’s most important pre-Columbian Inca ruins and are located in the southern Andes at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. Ingapirca originally means “Inca stone wall”. Long before the Incas, the Kanari lived in this area and built their moon temple, which is still visible today. You will also take a short hike to the “cara del inca”, a rock formation in the shape of a face.
Day 10 : Cuenca Colonial Tour
Explore Cuenca, a charming colonial city known for its cobblestone streets and artisan shops. Visit iconic sites like the New Cathedral and Turi viewpoint. Cuenca’s vibrant art scene includes Panama hat factories and jewelry workshops.
Day 11 : Cajas National Park Hike - Guayaquil
Hike through the dramatic landscapes of Cajas National Park, known for its numerous lakes and unique flora and fauna. The park offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching and enjoying the peaceful Andean highlands. Arrive in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest coastal city. Visit the Malecon 2000, Las Peñas neighborhood, and enjoy panoramic views from Santa Ana Hill. Guayaquil’s vibrant atmosphere and historic districts offer a lively end to your journey.
Day 12 : Departure From Guayaquil
Trnsfer to the airport for your international flight home, concluding your epic exploration of Ecuador’s Andes and Amazon.
