One of the oldest settlements in the country, its name comes from the traditional term tambo which means “hostel” or “inn”. With the arrival of the railroad, this small town with a beautifull colonial architecture became an important station.
The Pita River is born from the thaws of 2 mountains: Cotopaxi and Sincholagua. The route runs through impressive canyons where you can see a series of beautiful waterfalls such as Pailón de Oro, Surohuaico, Yumbita and the Condor Machay, which is the most recognized because it has an 80 meters drop.
With a height of 5,897 meters, it represents one of the most significant landmarks of the Avenue of the Volcanoes due to the fact that it has an almost perfect cone covered with snow and glaciers. On clear and sunny days it can be seen from various places in Quito.
During the flight you will be able to observe its majestic slopes covered with extensive areas of grasslands where the chuquiragua stands out, large canyons that were formed in its past eruptions, as well as an extensive area of pine trees home to various species of mammals such as deer, rabbits, skunks and wolves. In the same way we can see the Limpiopungo lake formed by the glaciers of the volcano. In its surroundings you can see an important variety of birds such as ducks, andean gulls, curiquingues, quilicos and hawks.
The name comes from the Quichua language, meaning “stone face”. It has a height of 4722 meters, an extinct volcano where 3 majestic peaks stand out, surrounded by layers of lava and ash. This mountain is a privileged balcony to observe other elevations: Cotopaxi, Ilinizas, Pasochoa, Sincholagua, among others.

It constitutes an extensive town that arises in a beautiful plain surrounded by green and excellent pastures, making it the cradle of large cattle farms, and haciendas where the famous chagras are born. Chagra is a traditional characters of the Andean zone whose typical clothing is composed of sheepskin coats, striped ponchos, scarves and hats. They are really good at riding horses and they have a deep connection with the countryside.
A stratovolcano with a height of 5753 meters, it constitutes the nucleus of the National Park Antisana. It has impressive landscapes and a very diverse wildlife. It has two snow-covered peaks, which is why it is considered one of the most beautiful and unique mountains and reserves in the country. In addition, you will be able to observe the paddock páramo, deers, rabbits, if you are lucky the Andean Condor and a panoramic view of the beautiful Mica Lake.
A volcano whose height reaches 5790 meters, being the third highest peak in Ecuador. It is one of the largest volcanic complexes in the country since it has a glacial cap of around 22 square km. It is also the only summit that is crossed by the equatorial line. Around this volcano we will be able to appreciate humid forests, large extensions of the Andean paramo, and the Laguna Verde.
The capital of Ecuador, known as Luz de América or Carita de Dios. This beautiful city is located at the foot of the Pichincha volcano and surrounded by majestic mountainous elevations. In this flight we will be able to observe the imposing churches of the best preserved Downtown Historical Center in South America, the tile roofs of its beautiful colonial houses in the middle of the Virgen del Panecillo. Then give a twist to modern Quito with its innovative architecture.
After having flown over these incredible landscapes and amazed all our senses, we will return to our base, from where we will take ground transportation to La Hacienda Santa Ana. This is a property that dates back to the 1640s and belonged to the religious community Compañía de Jesús. It is surrounded by the Pasochoa Protected Forest, the Sincholagua and Rumiñahui mountains and the majestic Cotopaxi volcano. In this magical place we will enjoy lunch or a picnic and take a relaxing break before returning to your hotel in Quito.
